Why Visit the Egyptian Museum in Canela?
Located in one of the most touristic towns of the Serra Gaúcha, the Egyptian Museum in Canela holds the largest collection about the land of the pharaohs in Latin America. It features magical amulets, enigmatic sarcophagi, and other discoveries. The collection has traveled before settling in Canela as a permanent attraction.
Comprising replicas by Egyptian artist Essam Elbattal and his team, the museum is filled with mysteries to explore in its various environments. It is recommended to start with the main hall, which showcases a variety of objects and sculptures, and to visit the papyrus corridor.
There is also a kids area where children can draw and learn hieroglyphics, uncovering ancient inscriptions that were undecipherable until two centuries ago. Visitors can take photos here, including the typical Egyptian portrait.
