Why Visit the Egyptian Museum in Canela?
Located in one of the most touristic towns of the Serra Gaúcha, the Egyptian Museum in Canela has the largest collection about the land of the pharaohs in all of Latin America. The collection includes magical amulets, enigmatic sarcophagi and various artifacts. This collection has travelled through Brazil and across continents before settling in Canela as a permanent attraction.
Featuring replicas by the Egyptian artist Essam Elbattal and his team, the museum offers a variety of environments to explore. It is recommended to start in the main hall, which contains a wide range of objects and sculptures. The papyrus corridor is another essential area to visit.
There is also a kids area, ideal for children to draw and learn hieroglyphics. Visitors can discover ancient inscriptions that remained undeciphered until two centuries ago. Photography is allowed, including typical Egyptian portrait poses.
