Why Visit the Bell Museum?

Located in Canela, the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, also known as the Cathedral of Stone, was chosen as one of the Seven Wonders of Brazil in 2010. Inside this Gothic-style church, you can find the Bell Museum. Upon entering, you'll climb 100 stairs to reach the museum, where the first bell produces an E flat note and weighs 2138 pounds (970 kilos), while the second bell plays an F note and weighs 1499 pounds (680 kilos).

You'll also see the Carrilhão da Independência, consisting of 12 bronze bells that weigh around 4 tons. This ticket includes learning about the church's history and its founder, canon João Marchesi, along with various pieces that illustrate the region's traditions.

The visit continues with the chance to enjoy scenic views of Canela from the church's side balconies. Don't forget your camera to take pictures!

Bell Museum Schedule

The Bell Museum opens every day from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, and from 2:40 pm to 6:30 pm.
