At your selected time, we'll meet at Piazza Roma to start this guided walking tour of Carbonia. During the walking tour, we'll admire the main monuments of this Sardinian town and learn about its history.
Carbonia was founded by Benito Mussolini in 1938 as a Fascist settlement to control the nearby mines, which were the largest energy supply center in Italy during their peak.
We'll walk around Carbonia, viewing emblematic monuments including the Torre Littoria, cinema-theatre, and the Church of San Ponciano, notable for its 46-metre-tall bell tower.
We'll continue our tour of Carbonia by discovering the Post Office and the Town Hall. Following this, we'll walk through the Villa Sulcis Park to visit the ruins of a former mine director's house. Throughout the tour, we'll learn various facts about the locations we visit.
After an hour and a half of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Carbonia in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti.
