At your selected time, we'll meet at Piazza Roma to start this guided walking tour of Carbonia. During the walking tour, we'll admire the main monuments of this Sardinian town and learn about its history.
Carbonia was founded by Benito Mussolini in 1938 as a Fascist settlement for controlling nearby mines, which were the largest energy supply center in Italy during their peak.
We'll walk around Carbonia, viewing the exteriors of emblematic monuments, including the Torre Littoria, the cinema-theatre, and the Church of San Ponciano, known for its 46-meter-tall bell tower.
We will also discover the Post Office and the Town Hall, followed by a walk through the Villa Sulcis Park to visit the remains of the former house of a mine director. Throughout the tour, we will learn interesting facts about the various locations visited.
After an hour and a half of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Carbonia in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti.
