Description

The fortress of Carcassonne was the site of confrontations between the French and Aragonese during the Middle Ages. Your fast-track ticket allows you to explore the Chapel of the Bastion, Machicolations, and the barbican, a defensive gateway above the moat. The ticket also includes fast-track access to the citadel's ramparts, where you can stroll around the walled perimeter and enjoy views of the Aude river valley and the historical city centre, including the Saint-Nazaire basilica and Narbonne Gate.

Opening Times

The opening times of Carcassonne Castle are as follows:

April 1st to September 30th: from 11 am to 6:30 pmOctober 1st to March 31st: from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm

Final admission is 45 minutes before closing. On December 24th and 31st, the castle closes at 4 pm. These times are flexible and subject to change.

Free Admission

Admission to the Castle and walls of Carcassonne is free for:

Young people from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18, regardless of nationality.

To obtain free admission, visit the ticket office with a valid ID. Admission is also free on the first Sunday of the month from January 1 to March 31, November 1 to December 31, and the third weekend of September.

Reduced-Fare Tickets

A reduced-fare ticket is available at the monument’s box office for approximately 6.50 EUR, valid from 3:30 pm from October to March and from 5 pm from April to September.
