On this trip from Varadero, you'll be taken to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, where we'll discover the most important wetland of the insular Caribbean.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Varadero to begin this trip to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park.

After around 2 hours, we'll arrive at the largest wetland in the insular Caribbean. Once there, we'll begin a 2.5-kilometre hiking route to explore the rich nature in this unique area. This park has been declared a Nature Reserve by UNESCO.

During the trip, we'll observe mangroves, which are vital for coastal preservation and home to a wide variety of wildlife, including 258 species of birds, 43 types of reptiles, and 15 mammals. We will learn about these fascinating creatures.

Next, we'll take a break at La Cueva de los Peces Cenote on the Zapata Peninsula for a refreshing dip. Afterwards, a typical Cuban lunch will be provided.

After the meal, we'll visit the Bernabé Garden to see native and migratory birds. With some luck, we may spot species such as Zapata wrens, St. Thomas hens, crested grebes, hummingbirds, long-tailed hawks, Cuban parakeets, marsh goats, herons, flamingos, and cranes.

Our final stop will be at a crocodile farm, where you'll observe these reptiles in their natural habitats.

We'll conclude this tour after 11 hours, returning to the starting point.
