You'll discover how Cartagena was a strategic point and a target for bombing during the Spanish Civil War. The museum was built in a tunnel on the slopes of Concepción Hill, one of many air raid shelters constructed in response to bombing raids by the rebel side. The heaviest attack occurred on 25th November 1936, when the Condor Legion bombarded the city.

With this ticket, you can stroll through the galleries and listen to testimonies of the people affected. You will learn about the organization of defense and the changes this conflict caused in their lives, along with audiovisual material featuring real images and sounds from this period of Spanish history.

Opening hours

The Civil War Shelters Museum has the following opening hours:

1st July to 15th September: Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm.15th March to 30th June / 16th September to 1st November: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.2nd November to 14th March: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5:30 pm.5th January and 24th and 31st December: open only from 10 am to 2 pm.

Please note that the last access is an hour before closing time.

Reduced fare

The reduced fare is available to children under 12 years old, students up to 25 years old, Youth Card holders, the unemployed, pensioners and retired persons, the disabled, large families, and groups of 20 people or more.
