Description

Since the 13th century, the Castillo de la Concepción has witnessed the splendour of this Mediterranean city. This medieval fortress defended the city during the reign of Alfonso X and symbolizes 18th-century Cartagena, serving as a fundamental bastion of its history.

The panoramic lift is 45 meters high, offering a privileged view of Cartagena and the strategically important port for the Spanish Navy. This viewpoint was formerly the site of a temple dedicated to the god Aesculapius during Roman times. From the glass cabin, you can see the Roman amphitheatre, the bullring, and the Hospital de Marina.

At the top, you can visit the Interpretation Centre within the fortress, where you will learn about the historical heritage of the Castillo de la Concepción and view preserved architectural elements.

Panoramic lift ticket

If you prefer not to visit the interior of the castle, you can book a ticket for the panoramic lift to admire the view of Cartagena and its main monuments. The lift is accessed from Gisbert Street.

The Concepción Castle is open at the following times:

1st July to 15th September: Monday to Sunday 10 am - 8 pm15th March to 30th June/16th September to 1st November: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am - 7 pm2nd November to 14th March: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am - 5:30 pmPlease note that on 24th, 31st December and 5th January, it is open from 10 am to 2 pm.

Last access is one hour before closing time.

Reduced rate

Students under 25, youth cardholders, unemployed, retired individuals, disabled individuals, and large families can book the reduced rate by presenting the corresponding identification.
