Day 1: Theory and practice in confined waters

Participants will meet at Afrocorales Beach Club in Baru. Equipment will be distributed, and essential diving techniques will be taught. Instructions will cover the functionality of diving equipment, including placement, underwater orientation, and air tank usage. Communication methods underwater will also be discussed. After the theoretical session, practice will commence in a confined water setting, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with diving and build confidence before entering open waters. Skills such as equipment setup and adjustment, underwater breathing, and buoyancy control will be practiced.

Days 2 & 3: Open Water Dives

On Day 2, participants will return to the same location for 2 dives in the National Natural Park of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Islands. Equipped with wetsuits, divers will explore coral reefs and observe various marine life. Day 3 involves 2 additional dives in the waters surrounding Baru Island, where creatures such as turtles, trumpet fish, parrot fish, and barracudas can be seen. At the end of the course, an exam will be conducted for obtaining the official PADI Open Water certification, allowing participants to dive up to 20 metres (65 feet) deep globally, with 10 days available to prepare for theory exams.
