Baru PADI Open Water Diver Course

Day 1: Theory and practice in confined waters

Participants will meet at Afrocorales Beach Club in Baru. Equipment will be distributed, and diving techniques will be explained, including the functionality of various equipment elements, underwater orientation, and air tank usage. Tips for underwater communication will also be provided.

Practice will take place in a confined water environment, where participants will learn to set up and adjust their diving equipment, practice underwater breathing, and enhance their buoyancy skills. This safe environment will help build confidence before moving on to open water diving.

Days 2 & 3: Open Water Dives

On the second day, participants will meet at the same location and complete 2 dives in the National Natural Park of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Islands. Wetsuits will be worn as they test their skills and explore coral reefs and diverse sea life.

The third day involves 2 additional dives in the clear waters of Baru Island to discover its underwater life, including turtles, trumpet fish, parrot fish, and barracudas. Participants will then take an exam to obtain the official PADI Open Water certification, which permits diving up to 20 metres (65 feet) deep worldwide, with up to 10 days allowed for exam preparation.
