Baru PADI Open Water Diver Course

Day 1: Theory and practice in confined waters

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Afrocorales Beach Club in Baru. Here, we'll distribute the equipment and learn about diving techniques. We'll explain how the different elements of the diving equipment work, how to place them, how to orientate underwater, and how to use the air tanks. Additionally, tips on underwater communication will be provided. We will practice in a confined water environment to put our new-found knowledge into practice. Participants will learn how to set up and adjust the diving equipment, practice breathing underwater, and enhance buoyancy skills. This controlled environment will help in gaining confidence before venturing into open waters.

Days 2 & 3: Open Water Dives

On the second day, we will meet at the same location for a total of 2 dives in the waters of the National Natural Park of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Islands. Wearing wetsuits, participants will test their skills while admiring beautiful coral reefs and various sea creatures. On the third day, we will do 2 more dives in the clear waters of Baru to observe underwater life, including turtles, trumpet fish, parrot fish, and barracudas. At the end of the course, participants will take an exam to obtain the official PADI Open Water certification, allowing them to dive up to 20 metres (65 feet) deep anywhere in the world. Preparations for the theory exams can be made over a period of 10 days.
