Baru PADI Open Water Diver Course
Day 1: Theory and practice in confined waters
On the first day, we meet at Afrocorales Beach Club in Baru for equipment distribution and an introduction to diving techniques. You'll learn how to operate the different elements of the diving equipment, including proper placement, underwater orientation, and air tank usage. We will provide tips on underwater communication.
Practicing in a confined water environment, you'll learn to set up and adjust your diving equipment, practice breathing underwater, and enhance buoyancy skills. This controlled setting will help you build familiarity and confidence before proceeding to open waters.
Days 2 & 3: Open Water Dives
On the second day, we reconvene at the same location for 2 dives in the National Natural Park of Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Islands, where you'll wear wetsuits and practice your skills while observing coral reefs, colorful tropical fish, and other marine life.
The third day includes 2 additional dives in the clear waters around Baru Island, highlighting various underwater species such as turtles, trumpet fish, parrot fish, and barracudas. At the conclusion of the course, you will take an exam for the PADI Open Water certification, which permits diving up to 20 meters (65 feet) deep worldwide. You have up to 10 days to prepare for the theory exam.
