Tour of Cascais, Cabo da Roca & Boca do Inferno
Cascais, a destination for artists and aristocrats since the 19th century, features palaces and picturesque scenery. The tour starts at the train station in Cascais at 10 am, where participants will board a minibus heading to the first stop: the Santuario da Peninha.
This site consists of an 18th-century chapel and a palace from the early 20th century, set on a hill offering views of the coast and the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Next, the tour proceeds to Cabo da Roca, cliffs 459 feet (140 meters) above the ocean, known as the westernmost point in mainland Europe, historically considered the 'end of the world.' Visitors will have time for photographs by the lighthouse, the third oldest in Portugal, before returning to Cascais via the Cresmina Dune for coffee and photos.
On the way back, views of Praia do Guincho beach will be visible, popular with surfers. The penultimate stop is Boca do Inferno, a cave in the cliffs where locals believe one can hear the 'sound of the true underworld.'
After this experience, the tour proceeds to the historical centre of Cascais for about an hour, exploring the town's streets and buildings. The tour concludes at the train station around 3 pm.
