Tour of Cascais, Cabo da Roca & Boca do Inferno
The tour begins at the train station in Cascais at 10 am, where participants will board a minibus to the first stop: Santuario da Peninha. This site features an 18th-century chapel and a 20th-century palace, located on a hill with views of the coast and Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Next, the group travels to Cabo da Roca, cliffs approximately 459 feet (140 metres) above the ocean, recognized as the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Visitors will have time for photos at the lighthouse, the third oldest in Portugal, before stopping at Cresmina Dune for coffee and photo opportunities while returning towards Cascais.
Along the way, enjoy views of Praia do Guincho beach, known for its surfing. The penultimate stop is Boca do Inferno, located just 5 minutes from the center of Cascais. The name translates to 'the mouth of hell,' with local beliefs about the sounds emanating from the cave in the cliffs.
The tour concludes in the historical centre of Cascais with an hour-long exploration of the town's streets and buildings before arriving back at the train station around 3 pm.
