Cerro Sechín Excursion

On this excursion to Cerro Sechín, we'll visit the archaeological complex in the province of Casma and learn to interpret its vestiges. The tour also includes a visit to the Max Uhle Regional Museum.

Cerro Sechín Excursion

Pickup will be at 9 am at your hotel in Casma for our journey to the archaeological complex of Cerro Sechín.

Cerro Sechín is 4,000 years old and features a group of prehistoric buildings, including a central mud structure and a stone one, along with two additional buildings and a lithic gallery. The gallery contains a mural with over 300 iconographic representations carved in stone.

During the tour, we'll examine the figures depicting various states of mind such as ecstasy, euphoria, and pain, as well as allegories symbolizing the victors' arrogance and the vanquished's fate. We'll explain the carving processes during the tour.

Next, we will visit the Max Uhle Regional Museum, which exhibits a significant collection of archaeological pieces from Cerro Sechín, along with photographs, murals, drawings, and models to enhance our understanding of the site's history.

After the museum visit, we will return to your hotel in Casma, arriving between 11 and 11:30 am.
