After picking you up at 9 am at your hotel in Casma, we'll head to the archaeological site of Chankillo, located just half an hour away.

Chankillo was declared a World Heritage Site in July 2021. It is the oldest astronomical complex in the Americas, dating back to between 257 and 201 BC. During the visit to this site, we'll learn about the region's worldview.

We'll observe the ancient fortified temple, which is 300 meters long and has several concentric walls over 5 meters high. The dimensions of this structure may suggest various historical uses, including the recreation of battles.

Additionally, numerous carob tree trunks found at Chankillo were utilized as lintels. After learning about these architectural elements, we'll visit the carob tree forest within the archaeological center, where we will explore the properties and benefits of this species.

From the carob forest of Chankillo, we'll return to your hotel in Casma, arriving between 11 and 11:30 am.
