Chankillo & Cerro Sechín Excursion

Learn about the history of Peru on this excursion to the archaeological sites of Chankillo and Sechín, during which we'll visit the most important prehistoric sites in the province of Casma.

Options

When you make your reservation you can choose one of the following tours. In both cases, the pickup at 8 am at your hotel in Casma, transportation, an English-speaking guide, entrance fees, as well as the return transfer are all included.

Chankillo & Cerro Sechín Tour (7 hours)

If you choose this option, we'll first go to the archaeological site of Chankillo, home to the Thirteen Towers, the oldest astronomical complex in America, which was included in the World Heritage Sites in July 2021. We will visit the ancient fortified temple of Chankillo, believed to be built between 257 and 201 B.C. After this visit, there will be an hour for lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we'll visit Cerro Sechín to explore its 4,000-year-old archaeological complex, examine its lithographic engravings, and visit the Max Uhle Museum, where we will see artifacts found on-site.

Chankillo, Cerro Sechín & Las Aldas Tour (8 hours)

This option follows the same itinerary as the previous tour, excluding the visit to the carob forest of Chankillo. After visiting Cerro Sechín and the Max Uhle Museum, we will proceed to the coast to visit the archaeological site of Las Aldas, learning about this ceremonial, administrative, and scientific center dating from 1925 to 1410 BC.
