Chankillo Sunset Tour

At 4 pm, we will pick you up at your hotel in Casma to travel to the archaeological site of Chankillo.

Chankillo, which has been part of the World Heritage List since July 2021, is considered the oldest astronomical complex in the Americas, with origins dating back to between 257 and 201 BC.

During the visit, we will explore the area of the Thirteen Towers to understand the ancient peoples' perception of the cosmos. Unlike other sites, Chankillo is an astronomical observatory that operated year-round, marking solstices, equinoxes, and the sun and moon's rise and set.

As we learn about the history of this observatory, we will enjoy a magical sunset over the Chankillo complex, experiencing the same view that ancient peoples did.

After watching the sunset, we will return to your hotel in Casma, arriving between 6 and 6:30 pm.
