Combine breathtaking nature and sport in one morning on our Calanques National Park Hike. We'll see spectacular coves and discover how this place on the Côte d'Azur was formed.
Calanques National Park Hike
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Avenue des Calanques, in Cassis. From here, we'll start a nature walk through the eastern part of the Calanques National Park.
You will see its paradisiacal coves and limestone mountains, shaped over 120 million years.
A calanque is an old valley excavated by a river, which was later flooded by the sea when the water level rose 12,000 years ago. It is surrounded by rocky peaks.
During the tour, we'll walk along the coastline of Cassis to visit the calanques, starting with Port-Miou. This mile-long (1.5 kilometre) calanque extends towards the mainland. We will visit the marina, discuss an old quarry, and cover the underground river in this area.
As we follow the coastline, we'll reach Port-Pin before ascending to the Calanque d'En-Vau viewpoint, which is almost 400 feet (120 metres) high, offering views of the Calanques National Park.
After the tour, where we will make several stops and take a break for a swim, we will conclude the hiking route back at the starting point.
