Discover one of Castellon's tucked away gems with our Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Tour. You'll learn about mining techniques from many years ago and also visit Culla, the home of the Knights Templar.

Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Tour

We'll meet in front of the Castellón Tourist Office at 9:10 am and board a minibus to Upper Maestrazgo. The Maestrazgo Mining Park is a significant local attraction.

A mining train will take us to the entrance of the Victoria Mine. After putting on our safety helmets, we'll enter this underground cavity to learn about the work of miners from hundreds of years ago, including the minerals extracted and mine safety.

Participants will see several mining tools, original carts, and informational panels that depict daily life in the Maestrazgo Mining Park.

Afterward, we'll return to the train and head to the Esperanza Mine. In this cavern, we will discuss natural cave conditions, geological phenomena, shafts, and observe centuries-old stalactites.

Next, we'll take a minibus to Culla, a medieval town with Templar connections. We will explore the town's links to the Order of the Temple, passing by an 11th-century castle, the Commander's granary, and the old hospital.

Finally, we will return to Castellón de la Plana, arriving around 1:50 pm.
