On our tour of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, we'll explore villages in the Lucanian Dolomites and experience mountain scenery.
Castelmezzano & Pietrapertosa Private Tour
At your chosen time, we'll meet in Piazza Emilio Caizzo in Castelmezzano. You'll follow the guide's vehicle through the villages of the Lucanian Dolomites, with stunning mountain views.
The private tour begins in the medieval streets of Castelmezzano, where we'll navigate its steep stairs to see unique sandstone-roofed houses built on a rocky basin.
Next, we'll head to Pietrapertosa, where we'll visit the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore, adorned with 17th and 18th-century frescoes and works by notable local artists such as Pietro Antonio Ferro.
In Pietrapertosa, we'll also observe the remains of the Arabata, an ancient Arab settlement with its Saracen name.
The tour proceeds to Pietrapertosa Castle, a Roman fortress significant during the Norman period in the 9th century. The ruins atop a large rock provide views of the Basento Valley and the Lucanian Dolomites. Following this, you'll have 2 hours of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.
We'll return to the meeting point and conclude our tour 6 to 8 hours after it begins. See you next time!
