Tour Details

At the appointed time, we will meet at the Nuno Álvares shopping centre in Castelo Branco and take a minibus to the historic village of Idanha-a-Velha, located about an hour away.

Upon arrival, we will walk through the town, viewing its main points of interest such as the Roman bridge, old mill, and gates of the city walls. We will also visit the ruins of the cathedral and learn about its connections to the Knights Templar.

The next stop will be Monsanto, known as the most Portuguese village in Portugal. We will explore its historic center, notable for huge granite stones and houses that blend into the landscape. Key sights include the exterior of the Clock Tower, the main church, the castle, and other landmarks.

While we explore, we will also see Largo do Baluarte, the church and chapels, and Lucano Tower. At the top of Monsanto Castle, we will enjoy panoramic views of the area.

Afterward, there will be time to have lunch at a local restaurant or enjoy a picnic.

Next, we will travel to Penha Garcia to connect with nature, walking along the river beach and observing its cliffs and fossils.

After a total of 8 hours, we will return to our starting point in Castelo Branco.
