Tour Details

We'll meet at the Nuno Álvares shopping centre in Castelo Branco and take a minibus to Idanha-a-Velha, approximately one hour away.

Upon arrival, we will walk through the town, exploring major attractions such as the Roman bridge, the old mill, and the city wall gates. We will also visit the cathedral ruins and learn about the Knights Templar's connection to the town.

The next destination is Monsanto, known as the most Portuguese village in Portugal. We will explore its historic center and see the giant granite stones and integrated houses. Significant sites include the Clock Tower, main church façade, and the castle. The Largo do Baluarte and Lucano Tower will also be highlighted, along with panoramic views from Monsanto Castle.

Afterwards, there will be a brief stop for lunch at a local restaurant or a picnic.

Next, we will visit Penha Garcia for a nature walk along the river beach, view dramatic cliffs, and discuss local fossils.
