Tour Details

At the appointed time we'll meet at the Nuno Álvares shopping centre in Castelo Branco and take a minibus to the historic village of Idanha-a-Velha, about an hour away.

Upon arrival, we'll walk through the town, viewing its main points of interest including the Roman bridge, old mill, and city wall gates. We will also see the cathedral ruins and learn about its connections to the Knights Templar.

The next stop will be in Monsanto, known for its granite stones and houses integrated into the landscape. Highlights include the Clock Tower, the main church, the castle, and more. We will also explore Largo do Baluarte, various chapels, and the Lucano Tower. From Monsanto Castle, we will enjoy panoramic views.

After taking in the views, we will have time to get lunch at a local restaurant or have a picnic.

Next, we'll visit Penha Garcia, where we will walk along the river beach, see cliffs, and discuss the fossils in the area.

After a total of 8 hours, we'll return to Castelo Branco.
