Bicycle Tour of Santa Maria di Leuca

On this bicycle tour of the cape of Santa Maria di Leuca, we'll cycle to discover the history and landscape of the southernmost point of the Salento peninsula.

Tour Details

We'll meet at the designated time at Torre di Salignano, where we will start our tour. The area was once known as Finibus Terrae (Land's End).

We'll begin our 15-kilometre (9.3-mile) cycle by admiring the Defence Tower, designed to protect the area against Saracen incursions. Our route will take us inland through charming villages, farms, and tranquil trails.

Our next stop will be Patù, where we will see the Centopietre (Hundred Stones). We will share the history of this megalithic structure.

Continuing on, we will visit the medieval castle Giuliano, notable for preserving its original structure. We will then proceed to Barbarano, home to the Santuario di Leuca Piccola, a historical refuge for pilgrims.

Our tour will conclude at the Antica Locanda Retró, where participants will enjoy a glass of wine accompanied by a selection of local cheeses.

After a total of 3 hours exploring, our bicycle adventure will come to an end.
