Paita & Colán Day Trip

On this day trip, we'll explore the coastal towns of Paita and Colán, and visit a basilica declared a National Historic Monument.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel and head to the coastal town of Paita.

Upon arrival, we'll go to the port for a 20-minute cruise on a traditional boat, seeking sea lions and birds such as the blackish oystercatcher, brown pelican, and blue-footed booby.

During the tour, you'll sample Peruvian chifles, a delicacy of fried plantain. Afterward, we'll visit Yacila Beach, a 0.5 kilometre (0.8 mile) stretch of fine sand where you'll have the chance to take a dip.

Next, we'll travel to Colán to see the church of San Lucas, a 16th-century basilica built on the ruins of a pre-Hispanic temple of Capullanas, noted as the first chapel in the South Pacific.

At the end of the visit, you'll have 1 hour of free time to eat and relax at the Colán Beach Resort, known for its emerald waters and palm trees. You may see manta rays in this area.

Finally, we'll return to Piura, expected to arrive at your hotel 8 hours and 20 minutes after pickup.
