On this guided tour, discover some of the most iconic sites in Piura, and visit Catacaos, a city known for its artisanal ceramic works and crafts!
Description
We'll get this historical tour started at 9 am after pickup at your hotel in Piura.
Our first stop will be Plaza de Armas, the city's center, where we can see the Catedral de Piura, built in the 16th century in honor of San Miguel. Next, we will visit the Casa Museo Almirante Miguel Grau, which was repaired in 1964 after being destroyed in an earthquake in 1912.
After an optional guided visit to San Miguel Bridge and the Piura River, we'll travel to Simbila, a village 5 km (3.1 miles) away, home to ceramic artisans. Nearby is Catacaos, a well-known city in the Piura region.
In Catacaos, you'll have a free hour to enjoy lunch before taking a guided tour of the old city, visiting sites like Plaza de Armas, the Monumento al Bachiller Juan de Mori Alvarado, and the San Juan Bautista Temple. We'll also explore Market Street for souvenirs.
While walking through Catacaos, we'll visit charming shops and have the chance to savor typical sweets, including learning about the craft of the sweet syrup algarrobina. The tour will conclude with visits to galleries of artisanal silver and gold creations.
We'll return to Piura at 4 pm.
