Description
We'll get this historical tour started at 9 am after pickup at your hotel in Piura.
Our first stop will be Plaza de Armas, the city's center, where we can see the Catedral de Piura, constructed in the 16th century. Following this, we will visit the Casa Museo Almirante Miguel Grau, which was reconstructed in 1964 after being damaged by an earthquake in 1912.
After an optional visit to San Miguel Bridge and the Piura River, we will head to Simbila, a village about 5 km (3.1 miles) away known for its ceramic artisans. Next, we will arrive at Catacaos, where you will have a free hour for lunch before a guided tour of the old city.
Points of interest include Plaza de Armas, the Monumento al Bachiller Juan de Mori Alvarado, and the San Juan Bautista Temple. We will also visit Market Street for souvenirs. As we explore Catacaos, we will experience local shops and typical sweets, including how to craft the renowned algarrobina, a sweet syrup. The tour will conclude with visits to galleries featuring artisanal silver and gold creations.
We'll finish the tour by returning to Piura at 4 pm.
