An ancient 18th-century cathedral, the incredible mangroves of San Pedro de Vice, and desert landscapes are the highlights of this tour to the province of Sechura. A diverse range of landscapes will be observed, along with sandboarding. An unmissable trip!

Description

After pickup at your hotel in Piura at 9 am, we will travel southwest to the city of Sechura, with a minibus ride lasting about an hour and a half.

We will explore the city and visit notable sites such as the Plaza de Armas and the San Martín de Tours church, the main temple of this provincial capital. We will discuss its origins from 1770 while examining its high towers and baroque details.

Next, we will visit the mangroves of San Pedro de Vice, enjoying the scenery and observing migratory birds from places like Canada. We will gain an understanding of this estuary of Sechura and learn to identify the various animal species present.

Afterward, we will go to Chulliyachi beach for an hour of free time to have lunch and explore the golden sandy bay. Here, we can see the ruins of a ghost town, including its church and former mud houses of Sechuran fishermen, which were abandoned due to material degradation and coastal erosion.

Finally, we will proceed to Médano Blanco, a well-known area of the Sechura desert, where we will provide a sandboard for sliding down the dunes. The tour will conclude at 5:30 pm with drop-off at your hotel.
