Catania Private Tour

We will meet at your chosen time in Piazza Federico II to start the private tour, approaching the Ursino Castle, an impressive fortress that dominates the square. The castle, built between 1239 and 1250 by Frederick II of Swabia, served as the residence of the Aragonese rulers and now houses the city's civic museum.

After the castle, we will walk along Via Autieri and the ancient Roman baths to the fish market. We will then proceed to Piazza Duomo, home to the Elephant Fountain. Several theories exist regarding this sculpture's origins, which will be discussed during the tour.

Next, we will visit the Cathedral of St Agatha, located at the martyrdom site of the city's patron saint, which includes the tomb of composer Vincenzo Bellini. We will explore his connection with Catania.

The tour continues to the Bellini Theatre. Close by, we will see the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre and Piazza Dante, including the Church of San Nicolò and the Benedictine Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After 2 hours of exploration, we will conclude the tour.
