Catania Private Tour

We will meet at your chosen time in Piazza Federico II, starting our tour at the Ursino Castle, an imposing fortress. Built between 1239 and 1250 for Frederick II of Swabia, it served as the residence of the Aragonese rulers and now houses the city's civic museum. Its extraordinary size is notable.

After exploring the castle's history, we will walk along Via Autieri and the ancient Roman baths to reach the fish market, the heartbeat of the city. We will explore the kiosks before arriving at Piazza Duomo, home to the city's emblem: the Elephant Fountain, with its various origin theories discussed during the tour.

Next, we will visit the Cathedral of St Agatha, located at the site of the patron saint's martyrdom, where we will see the tomb of composer Vincenzo Bellini. The connection between the musician and Catania will be revealed.

The tour continues to the Bellini Theatre, one of Italy's most notable, followed by the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre and Piazza Dante, where we will visit the Church of San Nicolò and the Benedictine Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After 2 hours exploring Catania's emblematic sites, we will conclude the tour.
