Rafting in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park
We'll meet up at 10 am at Rua Borba Gato in Cavalcante. After learning the safety rules, we'll equip ourselves with helmets, vests, and other rafting gear.
Then, we'll prepare the rafts and embark on the 14-kilometer (8.7-mile) route through Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. We will navigate through various rivers and streams, tackling a total of five rapids, including the Funil do Paranã rapid.
Midway, we will dock the rafts for a rest and a chance to take a refreshing dip in the river. Following our break, we will continue paddling until we reach the native Kalunga community and visit one of the member's homes.
Here, we will be served a typical Kalunga lunch featuring local products such as rice, beans, pasta, farofa, salad, fried plantain, cassava, chicken, and free-range eggs.
After lunch, we will visit the Tia Lió Kalunga Memorial and converse with matriarch Láia Procópia, who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy for the Quilombo Kalunga territory.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Cavalcante, arriving at 4 pm.
