Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave Trip
Pickup will be at 8 a.m. from your hotel in San Ignacio for the journey to Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, approximately an hour and a half away. This site is among the most visited Mayan archaeological locations in Belize.
Within the cave, explore the Mayan beliefs surrounding death and witness human skeletons that are over a thousand years old, all former sacrifices made to the god Chaac.
The tour includes a walk through various parts of the cave, where visitors can see up to 14 sets of human remains. Information will be provided on the reasons for the burials in Actun Tunichil Muknal, the history of the Crystal Maiden, and the significance of pottery and clay artifacts found with the remains.
Following the three-hour tour, enjoy a lunch featuring rice, beans, chicken, and fried plantain before returning to San Ignacio and arriving back at your accommodation by 5 p.m.
