Join us on this trip to Altun Ha to discover a Mayan archaeological site. You will walk among the ruins of altars and temples that formed part of an ancient city.

Atun Ha Trip

We will pick you up at 8 a.m from your accommodation in San Ignacio before setting off for the ancient Mayan city of Altun Ha, about an hour's drive away. The name means "Rockstone Water" in the indigenous Mayan language.

Once there, we will explore the two zones of the archaeological site. In Plaza A, we will find the ruins of the Temple of the Tomb where jewels, jade, and flint were discovered.

The tour will also take us to Plaza B to visit the Temple of the Sun God, home to impressive stone figures. We will also stop at the altars of the Temple of the Masonry Altars, one of the most significant ceremonial centers of the Mayan people.

On the way back to San Ignacio, we will enjoy a lunch of rice, beans, chicken, and fried plantain. The trip concludes at your hotel by 3:45 pm.
