Travel back in time to the Mayan era on a day trip to the archaeological site of Lamanai. You will sail along the beautiful Nuevo River and stroll among magnificent pyramids and temples in this pre-Columbian city.
Description
Pickup is scheduled from your hotel in San Ignacio at 6 am. We will head to the dock known as Bats Landing before proceeding to the northern part of the country, commonly referred to as the northern lowlands.
Upon reaching the New River dock, commence a captivating journey across the mystical lagoon, where you can explore over 3000 years of Mayan history. While on this excursion, expect to see wildlife such as the elusive boat-billed heron, freshwater and saltwater crocodiles, river turtles, and the sounds of the Yucatan black howler monkeys in the background as you delve deeper into the rainforest that once thrived with Mayan civilization.
Once at the archaeological site, you will be guided by a knowledgeable tour leader who will tailor the experience to your interests. You will spend around 1.5 hours exploring the site followed by a delicious lunch. After lunch, the group will return to the New River dock.
At the end of your adventure-filled day, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
