This guided tour of Cazorla offers a historical perspective, including visits to the Bóveda del río Cerezuelo and the ruins of the Church of Santa María de Gracia, along with an olive oil tasting.
Tour Details
We will meet at Calle Gómez Calderón for an olive oil tasting lasting approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Participants will learn to distinguish virgin olive oil categories, sample the local royal and picaul varieties, and engage in sensorial games for the senses of smell and taste.
Following the tasting, we will visit the viewpoint of Pintor Zabaleta to begin our guided tour of Cazorla. The tour starts with a discussion of the historical origins of Cazorla and the significance of the surrounding natural park.
Next, we will walk along the Cerezuelo Riverwalk to appreciate the local scenery, where we may observe various species of birds, an old flour mill, and local flora such as oak trees, yew trees, and fig trees.
We will then visit the bóveda del río Cerezuelo, a key historical site from the 16th century that redirected the river's flow, supporting the town's growth. This visit includes the legend of the site and the ruins of the Church of Santa María de Gracia.
After 3 hours of activity, we will conclude the tour at the Plaza de Santa María in the historic centre of Cazorla.
