Explore one of the most significant rivers in the Iberian Peninsula while taking in the captivating landscape of the Tagus International Natural Park on this river cruise. Immerse yourself in its pristine beauty!
Tagus River Cruise
At the scheduled time, we will gather at the dock in Cedillo, a charming village that sits on the border of Spain and Portugal, marking the westernmost point of Extremadura!
Once aboard the boat, we will set sail on the Tagus River, heading towards Herrera de Alcántara, known for its impressive Roman bridge. The Tagus river serves as the natural boundary between Spain and Portugal, bisecting the Tagus International Natural Park. One side falls under the jurisdiction of Extremadura, while the other belongs to Portugal.
As we navigate through the waters, our knowledgeable crew will share fascinating insights into the cultural and historical significance of this Spanish-Portuguese frontier. Additionally, we will appreciate the park's rich flora and fauna, surrounded by its breathtaking natural scenery. With a bit of luck, we might even catch a glimpse of unique bird species such as the griffon vulture, Egyptian vulture, black stork, and the imperial eagle, the latter of which is critically endangered.
Before reaching Herrera de Alcántara, our boat will reverse course, allowing us to savor the beautiful vistas on our way back to the original departure point, culminating in a 2-hour experience.
