Cricova Winery & Orheiul Vechi + Curchi Monasteries Day Trip

On this excursion from Chisinau, we'll visit the Cricova winery and the monasteries of Orheiul and Vechi, two important Moldovan cultural heritage sites.

Description

At the specified time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Chisinau for a tour of Moldova's notable cultural landmarks.

Our first stop will be at two significant monasteries: the Curchi and Orheiul Vechi monasteries. We will begin with Curchi, located in the Vatici Valley within the Codru forests, where we will discuss the history and unique features of Moldovan religious architecture.

Next, we will visit Orheiul Vechi, an open-air museum showcasing the ruins of ancient settlements and fortresses, including remnants of the Mongol city of Shehr Jedid and a rock church. Following the exploration, you will have free time for lunch at a traditional restaurant serving typical Moldovan cuisine.

After lunch, we will proceed to the Cricova winery, the second-largest in Moldova, where wines are stored in caves at depths of 60 to 80 meters (196 to 262 feet). Our tour will include a visit to the facilities and an overview of the winemaking process. After the visit, we will return to Chisinau and drop you off at your hotel, concluding about 8 hours of activity.
