Kuelap Fortress Day Excursion

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel at the specified time, after which we will depart Chachapoyas, traveling south towards Nuevo Tingo. Upon arrival, we will board the cable car for an exciting 20-minute ascent that leads us to the impressive Kuelap, an ancient fortification perched high in the Amazonian Andes.

As we get closer to the site, the stunning 20-meter tall stone walls encircled by cliffs and the vibrant Peruvian Amazon will take your breath away. A short uphill walk of approximately 20 minutes will bring us to the Kuelap architectural complex.

During our exploration, you will have the opportunity to uncover the remarkable circular buildings that date back to the 5th century AD, including highlights such as El Tintero (Inkwell), the Templo Mayor (Main Temple), and the Torreón (Tower). Kuelap is recognized as the most significant archaeological site of pre-Incan cultures in Peru!

Following our tour, we will pause for lunch at a traditional restaurant where you can enjoy a meal featuring soup and a choice of chicken, fish, or beef as the main dish.

To conclude the day, we'll return using the cable car down to Nuevo Tingo. Then, we’ll make our way back to Chachapoyas, arriving at your hotel approximately 9 hours after our departure.
