Kuelap Fortress Day Trip
After picking you up from your hotel at the indicated time, we will leave Chachapoyas and head south to Nuevo Tingo. Upon arrival, we will take a cable car for a 20-minute ride to Kuelap, an ancient settlement located at the top of the Amazonian Andes.
As we approach the site, we will see the impressive 20 metre high stone walls surrounded by cliffs and the Peruvian Amazonia. Following an uphill walk of about 20 minutes, we will arrive at the Kuelap architectural complex.
We will explore the site, discovering the circular structures dating back to the 5th century AD, such as El Tintero (Inkwell), the Templo Mayor (Main Temple), and the Torreón (Tower). Kuelap is the largest archaeological monument of pre-Incan civilizations in Peru.
After our exploration, we will have lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a menu that includes soup and a main course of chicken, fish, or beef.
At the end of the trip, we will take the cable car back to Nuevo Tingo. From there, we will drive back to Chachapoyas, arriving at your hotel approximately 9 hours after pickup.
