On this private excursion around the north of Mauritius, you'll discover Port Louis, the island’s capital, Pamplemousses, and the botanical gardens, as well as an old sugar factory museum and the Labourdonnais plantation for rum and sorbet tastings.
Description
After hotel pickup at the scheduled time, we will head to Port Louis, established in the 17th century. It serves as a commercial center and the most important harbour in the region. We will explore Central Market, a traditional market space with diverse offerings.
Next, we will visit Caudan Waterfront, a commercial center on a small peninsula. You will see historic buildings, now home to restaurants and shops.
Your guide will take you to Chinatown, entering through the traditional ‘friendship gate’, where you will pass pagodas and restaurants. A visit to Fort Adelaide, a colonial citadel, follows, after which you will have free time for lunch.
We will then leave Port Louis for the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, where you can view giant water lilies. You may choose to enhance your experience with a visit to the sugar factory museum, “L’Aventure du Sucre”, which showcases a sugar cane plantation and fruit gardens, and includes tastings of rum, juice, and jams.
The tour concludes back at your hotel, approximately 8 hours after pickup.
