On this private excursion around the north of Mauritius, you'll discover Port Louis, the island’s capital. We'll also go to Pamplemousses, where we'll stroll through the botanical gardens, visit an old sugar factory that houses a museum, and try local rum and tropical sorbets.
Description
After collecting you from your hotel at the indicated time, we'll head to Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, established by the French in the 17th century and currently the most important harbour in the region. We will explore the streets and browse Central Market, a traditional commercial space.
Next, we visit Caudan Waterfront, a commercial centre on a small peninsula featuring various shops and restaurants housed in historical buildings.
Our guide will take you to Chinatown, accessible through the traditional ‘friendship gate’, where you'll find pagodas and small restaurants. You'll also visit Fort Adelaide, the colonial citadel. Afterward, you'll have free time for lunch.
Next, we leave for the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, which date back over 200 years, where you can admire the giant water lilies. On the day of the activity, you can choose to add on a visit to the sugar factory, “L’Aventure du Sucre,” which features a sugar cane plantation and fruit gardens.
The tour concludes back at your hotel, approximately 8 hours after the initial pickup.
