Port Louis & Pamplemousses Private Day Trip

On this private excursion around the north of Mauritius, you'll discover Port Louis, the island’s capital. We'll visit Pamplemousses, where we'll explore the botanical gardens, an old sugar factory that is now a museum, and the Labourdonnais plantation for local rum and tropical sorbets.

Description

After collecting you from your hotel at the indicated time, we'll head for Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, established by the French in the 17th century as a secure port. Today it is a commercial center and the most important harbour in the region. We will pass through the streets of Port Louis and browse Central Market, a traditional market with various aromas and colors.

Next, we stop at Caudan Waterfront, a peninsula that serves as the commercial center of Port Louis. The area features historical buildings, now housing restaurants and shops.

Our guide will take you to Chinatown, where you'll walk through the traditional ‘friendship gate’, passing pagodas and small eateries. We will also visit Fort Adelaide, the colonial citadel offering views over the city. Afterward, you will have free time for lunch.

We will proceed to the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, which have been around for over 200 years. You can admire the famous giant water lilies at your own pace. You can also choose to add a visit to an old sugar factory, now known as “L’Aventure du Sucre” (The Sugar Adventure), where you will tour the plantation and sample rum, juice, and jams.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel approximately 8 hours after the initial pickup.
