La Merced + El Tirol Waterfall Tour
At 9 am, hotel pickup will commence for the tour of La Merced, where you will learn about the history of Chanchamayo, the provincial capital. The region was inhabited by three different cultures before Christian missionaries arrived. In 1635, Fray Juan Jerónimo Jiménez crossed the Huancabamba valley for missionary work.
The tour includes a visit to the square of La Merced, the first built in this central jungle area, showcasing the church Matriz de La Merced, a colonial-style building with reddish pilasters.
Next, you will visit the Gallito de las Rocas Zoo, where various species of native plants, birds, and animals can be observed.
The tour proceeds to Tirol waterfall, involving a 35-minute hike through the Amazon rainforest. A stop will be made at the viewpoint of La Cruz to view the Chanchamayo River flowing through La Merced.
After the visit, you will return to La Merced and be dropped off at your hotel following a five-hour tour.
