La Merced + El Tirol Waterfall Tour
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel to start a tour of La Merced and the history of the provincial capital of Chanchamayo.
This area was inhabited by three different cultures before the arrival of Christian missionaries. The Franciscan monk Fray Juan Jerónimo Jiménez crossed the Huancabamba valley in 1635 to convert the indigenous populations.
We will tour the city, passing by the square of La Merced, the first square built in this region of the central jungle of Peru. Here, we'll view the church Matriz de La Merced, a colonial-style building with reddish pilasters.
Next, we'll visit the Gallito de las Rocas Zoo, where we can observe various plants, birds, and native animals.
Our following stop will be the Tirol waterfall. Here, we will hike for 35 minutes through the Amazon rainforest. During this hike, we will stop at the viewpoint of La Cruz for a view of the Chanchamayo River.
After the visit, we will return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel, concluding a five-hour tour.
