Oxapampa 2 Day Tour

Day 1: La Merced - Oxapampa - Pozuzo

We will pick you up from your hotel in La Merced at 8 am to begin our tour. The first stop is Oxapampa, the district’s capital, known for its wooden houses influenced by Austro-German heritage, including the Church of Santa Rosa. Next, we'll visit Huarapo farm, where sugar cane brandy is produced, and samples of the farm's products will be available. A visit to a trout farm and a dairy plant will provide insight into local life. You will have free time for lunch before heading to Pozuzo, enjoying sights like the Rayantambo and Yuliqunti waterfalls and Yanachanga National Park. Upon arrival in Pozuzo, we will check in and have time to rest.

Day 2: Pozuzo - La Merced

The second day starts with breakfast at your accommodation. We’ll tour Pozuzo, including the Church of San José, the first church in the area from 1875, and a monument to Father Joseph Egg. We'll explore the main square and visit the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Francisco Shafferer Museum, which holds artifacts from the first settlers. Next, we’ll see the Emperor Wilhelm I suspension bridge, among other European-style buildings. A visit to Pozuzo's cemetery will follow before we break for lunch. Finally, we will return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel between 5 and 6 pm.
