Oxapampa & Yanachaga National Park Trip

We'll pick you up at 8 am from your hotel in La Merced and set off on a trip to the north.

Our trip will start with a visit to Oxapampa, the capital of the province. This town was founded by Austrian and German immigrants in the 19th century, and their descendants remain, creating a mix of European and Andean cultures. We'll explore districts in Oxapampa, including the neighborhoods of Miraflores and Llamaquizu, while observing the traditional houses along the Paseo de los Colonos. During the tour, we’ll visit the church of Santa Rosa, noted for its Tyrolean style.

Next, we will continue into the Oxapampa valley with a stop at the Huarapo estate, where we’ll learn about the production of sugar cane brandy and have a chance to taste it. We will also visit a trout farm and a dairy plant, giving insight into the livelihood of local farmers.

You'll have some free time for lunch before we head to Yanachaga National Park, located in the Amazon rainforest. This protected area offers a chance to experience the jungle life of central Peru.

After a day exploring the Oxapampa region, we’ll conclude the trip and return to La Merced, arriving at your hotel around 5 pm.
