Oxapampa & Yanachaga National Park Trip

We'll pick you up at 8 am from your hotel in La Merced and set off to the north.

The trip will start with a visit to Oxapampa, the capital of the province of the same name, founded by Austrian and German immigrants in the 19th century. Their descendants now live in this town where European and Andean cultures converge, with families bearing surnames such as Mayer and Müller.

We'll visit the districts of Oxapampa, including the neighbourhoods of Miraflores and Llamaquizu, while observing the traditional houses of the Paseo de los Colonos. During the tour, we’ll pass by the church of Santa Rosa, notable for its Tyrolean style architecture.

Next, we'll continue in the Oxapampa valley, making a stop at the Huarapo estate to learn about the sugar cane brandy production process and taste this typical drink. We will also visit a trout farm and a dairy plant, providing insight into the farmers' livelihoods in the region.

You'll be given some free time for lunch before we head to Yanachaga National Park, located in the Amazon rainforest. This protected area offers a glimpse into the jungle life of central Peru.

After a full day exploring the Oxapampa region, we’ll return to La Merced, arriving at your hotel around 5 pm.
