Want to know what the world's most expensive coffee is and how it's made? Don't miss a single detail of the process with this organic coffee tour through the Rainforest farm from La Merced.
Rainforest Farm Organic Coffee Tour
The most expensive coffee in the world comes from the stomach of a mammal. Misha coffee can cost more than 1000 dollars per kilo.
To learn this and more about coffee, we'll pick you up at your hotel in La Merced at 8 am to go to the Rainforest farm in Chanchamayo, a centre of organic coffee production. Upon arrival, we'll be welcomed with a hot cup of coffee or an ice cream.
On this tour, we'll discover how the exclusive Misha coffee is made. The beans are ingested by a coati or mishasho, mixed with fruits stored in its stomach, and then excreted as a delicious coffee for which some pay up to 75 dollars per cup.
We'll visit the Misha Conservation Centre to learn about the care given to coatis to produce this coffee and see the method of compost production for coffee crops.
After a lunch including a starter, a main course , and a drink, we'll continue to visit the organic coffee, pineapple, and medicinal plant crops on the farm.
Finally, we'll return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel at around 6 pm.
