Thermal Springs Tour

Follow the spectacular Water Route through Chaves, Vidago, and Verin on this tour showcasing the mineralized waters of the Iberian Peninsula.

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel at the selected time and get into a minibus to start our tour of the Portuguese Water Route.

Our first stop will be Vidago, known for its medicinal waters recommended for treating ailments like gout or diabetes. Here, we will visit the spa and taste the local mineral water, produced since 1886.

Next, we'll return to Chaves, the capital of the Alto Tâmega region, formerly known as Aquae Flaviae. We will visit the Roman baths, recognized for treating issues like rheumatism and skin problems due to their high silica content. Afterward, there will be a break for lunch, during which you can sample the local specialty, the Chaves cake.

Post lunch, we will continue along the Water Route, crossing into Spain to visit the castle of Monterrey, a 10th-century fortress-palace. We will then head to the Galician town of Verin, famous for its natural springs supplying water sold throughout the Iberian Peninsula, including brands like Cabreiroa, Fontenova, and Sousa. We will have the chance to visit its spas and taste the waters of Fonte do Sapo and Caldeliñas.

Finally, we will return and drop you off at your hotel approximately 6 hours after pickup.
