Chefchaouen to Akchour: 2 or 4 Day Hike

Description

Day 1: Chefchaouen – Azilane

We will meet at the Hotel Madrid in Chefchaouen and start the trek, which will last around seven hours with breaks. The first section lasts three hours through Talassemtane National Park, where we will have a picnic lunch. The second stretch, lasting four hours, will take us past the village of Afeska, ending the day in Azilane with dinner and overnight at a mountain lodge.

Day 2: Azilane – Akchour – Chefchaouen

After breakfast at the lodge, we'll hike a five-hour route to God's Bridge and the Akchour Waterfalls. After a picnic lunch, we will end the trek at the village of Akchour around 5:15 pm. A taxi back to Chefchaouen takes 45 minutes and costs about 18 USD (22 Euros) for up to four people.

4-Day Route

The 4-day option follows the same route for the first day. On the second day, we hike from Azilane to Taourarte, covering an 8-hour trek. After a picnic, we will stay at a rural lodge in Taourarte.

On the third day, we hike from Taourarte to Akchour, starting early with breakfast. This 8-hour journey includes lunch stops and opportunities to spot Rif monkeys. After visiting the Akchour waterfalls, we'll have dinner at a mountain lodge in Akchour.

The fourth day involves a 6-hour trek from Akchour to Chefchaouen, divided into two 3-hour segments. We'll have a picnic before returning to Chefchaouen for a guided city tour, concluding at the meeting point at 6 pm.

Accommodation and meals

The trek includes 3 nights of accommodation in mountain lodges:

Meals include dinner and breakfast at the accommodations but exclude 3 lunches, for which picnics should be brought.
