Discover the main attractions of the City of Pandas on this guided tour of Chengdu with an English-speaking guide.
Description
We'll meet at Tianfu Square in the center of Chengdu at the scheduled time. The guided tour will begin with an exploration of this square, including the white sculpture of Mao Tse Tung and the dragon-shaped fountains. This area marks the starting point for recounting the history of Chengdu, which dates back over 4000 years.
Next, we'll walk to the Chengdu Museum, the largest and most complete museum in the city, where we will explore exhibits from the prehistoric period to the establishment of the People's Republic of China in the 1940s.
We will cover various aspects of the social, political, economic, artistic, and cultural history before proceeding to Chengdu People's Park, an old underground air raid shelter utilized by the Sichuan Army during the Second World War. Here, we will observe locals participating in dances and visiting the famous blind date corner.
We will also explore the iconic long and narrow alleyways of Chengdu, featuring the oldest buildings in the city, including structures from the Qing dynasty and Western style.
Additionally, a short stop will be made at a café in the area for some typical tea. The tour concludes after a total of 3 hours of walking.
