Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at your hotel in Chetumal to set off to the archaeological site of Calakmul, known as "Snake Kingdom."
For approximately 3.5 hours, we'll pass through jungle landscapes until we reach the entrance of this natural site. Before the Calakmul ruins, we'll stop to walk along a path in the tropical jungle for 1 hour, where you may see fauna such as howler monkeys and toucans.
Following our jungle exploration, we'll continue our journey to the archaeological site of Calakmul. This ancient Mayan city spans 70 square kilometers (27 square miles) and contains more than 6,000 buried structures. Calakmul is not only significant archaeologically but also boasts invaluable biological diversity within the Campeche jungle.
Experience exploration as we visit key structures like the Great Plaza, the Ball Court, and the Acropolis. We will also learn about the history and traditions of the Maya people through their carved stone stelai.
