Patagoina Hike to the Cueva de las Manos

On this hike through the Chilean wilderness, we'll admire the varied Patagonian landscapes until we reach the Cueva de las Manos, where we will see a collection of cave paintings.

Patagonia Hike to the Cueva de las Manos

Pickup from your hotel in Chile Chico will be at 7:30 am, followed by transportation to the trailhead in Patagonia National Park via minibus or 4x4. The trek covers a 7-kilometer (4.4-mile), medium-difficulty route across the arid landscapes of the Patagonian plains, moving away from the shore of Lake General Carrera.

Several stops along the route will allow us to appreciate geological features, including the Piedra Clavada, a 40-meter (130 feet) high rock formed by wind erosion.

The trail leads to the Cueva de las Manos, featuring paintings over 10,000 years old, depicting petroglyphs of hunted animals and hand outlines created by ancient inhabitants.

The hike concludes at Lunar Valley, known for its moon-like landscapes, where we will enjoy a light snack while taking in the scenery.

We will return to the trail's beginning and head back to your hotel in Chile Chico, arriving at approximately 1:30 pm.
