Sisga Dam Hiking Tour

During this hiking tour, we will explore the flora of Cundinamarca and unique plants of the high Andean forest in Colombia.

At your chosen time, we will gather at the main gate of the Senderos del Sisga campsite to start an 8-kilometer (5-mile) hiking route around the Sisga Dam.

We will leave the Sisga lagoon behind and ascend Cerro La Leonera, home to numerous cypress trees and endemic plants typical of the high Andean forest. This area separates the sierra from the Chingaza páramo, which is crucial for local flora and fauna and serves as a water source for Bogotá.

As we enjoy the scenery, we will observe pajonales, chusques, and senecios, among other species. After reaching an altitude of 3,200 meters (10,500 feet), we will retrace our steps back to the Sisga Dam.

The tour will conclude after four hours at the starting point.
