If you're a lover of religious architecture, this tour of the churches of Cochabamba will take you to discover the most beautiful churches of the Bolivian city.
Cochabamba Churches Tour
We will meet at the Plaza de Colón or at your centrally located hotel, at the appointed time, to begin this tour of the most important churches of the metropolitan axis of Cochabamba, which includes districts such as Tiquipaya and Quillacollo.
The tour starts with a visit to the exterior of the Cathedral of San Sebastian to admire its portico of Corinthian columns and semicircular arches, along with its pointed rose window. We will learn about the history of this temple and then stop at the parish church of San Miguel de Tiquipaya, noted for its two-coloured façade and stepped bell tower.
Next, we will move to the outskirts to see the church of Santiago Apóstol de El Paso and discover its significance for the community, followed by a visit to Quillacollo.
In Quillacollo, we will first see the exterior of the cathedral of San Ildefonso de Quillacollo, located in a quiet square where we will review the four centuries of history of this basilica.
The final stop will be the sanctuary of the Virgin of Urkupiña, where we will share a religious legend related to the Virgen María Asunta at the end of the tour.
After a 5-hour tour, we will return to Plaza Colón.
