Cochabamba Churches Tour
We'll meet at the Plaza de Colón at the appointed time to begin this tour of the most important churches of the metropolitan axis of Cochabamba, including districts such as Tiquipaya and Quillacollo.
We'll start by visiting the exterior of the Cathedral of San Sebastian to admire its Corinthian columns, semicircular arches, and its pointed rose window. We'll discuss the history of this temple, then stop in front of the parish church of San Miguel de Tiquipaya, noted for its two-coloured façade and stepped bell tower.
Next, we'll head to the outskirts to see the church of Santiago Apóstol de El Paso and learn about its significance to the community, followed by a visit to Quillacollo.
Here, we'll first visit the exterior of the Cathedral of San Ildefonso, situated in a quiet square, providing an opportunity to review the four centuries of history of this basilica.
Finally, we'll go to the sanctuary of the Virgin of Urkupiña, where we'll share a religious legend related to the Virgen María Asunta to conclude the tour.
After a four-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point.
