Toro Toro 2-Day Adventure
Day 1
Your journey begins with a 7 am pickup from your Cochabamba hotel. We'll set off towards the Potosí department in southern Bolivia, affording you the opportunity to take in the scenic beauty of villages surrounding the High Valley of Cochabamba and the expansive Angostura lake, a man-made body of water covering approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers).
As we traverse through the charming towns of Tarata, Punata, Huayculi, and Ansaldo alongside the banks of the Caine River, we will eventually arrive at the village of Toro Toro. After checking into your hotel and enjoying lunch, the next stop will be the Toro Toro National Park—a region renowned for its species protection efforts and significant paleontological findings.
Highlights of the visit include witnessing remarkable dinosaur footprints and Mesozoic fossils at the archaeological site, together with an exploration of the Umajalanta cave. This magnificent cavern stretches 4 miles (7 kilometers) deep, showcasing stunning stalactites and an interior lagoon home to unique blind fish. The day will conclude with a return to the hotel for dinner, where you will spend the night.
Day 2
On the following day, an early start leads to a hearty breakfast before venturing into the heart of the Toro Toro canyon. Here, you will encounter stunning crystal clear water pools, perfect for a refreshing swim. Following your time at the gorge, a lunch break will precede our journey back to Cochabamba. We expect to reach your hotel by approximately 6:30 pm.
