Excursion to Teotitlán del Valle, Mitla & Mezcal Distillery

Hotel pick-up will commence, followed by a 7-mile (12 km) trip to Santa Maria del Tule, where you will see the tree with the largest trunk in the world, measuring 14 meters in diameter and over 1,400 years old.

Our next stop is Teotitlán del Valle, known for local artisans who produce textiles using traditional methods passed down through generations. You will hear about the Zapotec culture that thrives in this village.

We will then visit Mitla, a significant architectural site in Oaxaca, where we will explore the ruins of a Zapotec village. This area was a center for knowledge in architecture, astronomy, and engineering, with notable wall decorations and ornate halls leading to the church.

A visit to a candle workshop will follow, where you can learn about an ancient craft, including the traditional vela de concha and aromatic candles. Finally, you will learn about mezcal production and enjoy a tasting of this local spirit, exploring its flavor profiles.
