Excursion to Teotitlán del Valle, Mitla & Mezcal Distillery

After hotel pickup, we will travel 7 miles (12 km) to Santa Maria del Tule, home to the tree with the largest trunk in the world, measuring 14 meters in diameter and over 1,400 years old.

Next, we will visit Teotitlán del Valle, where artisans create textiles using traditional methods passed down for generations. You will learn about the Zapotec culture, which has been preserved in this village.

Our journey continues to Mitla, an important architectural site in Oaxaca. Here, we will explore the ruins of a Zapotec village known for its contributions to architecture, astronomy, and engineering, admiring the beautifully decorated walls and ornate halls leading to the church.

We will also visit a candle workshop to learn about the traditional craft of making vela de concha and aromatic candles. The excursion concludes with a presentation on mezcal production, including a tasting of this local spirit, highlighting its unique flavors.

Following a day immersed in Zapotec culture, we will return to Oaxaca and drop you off at your hotels.

During Easter, July, Halloween, and Christmas, different pickup points will be provided based on traffic. The local provider will contact you with specific locations:
