Tour Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca at the indicated time and head to Santa María del Tule. Here, we will begin our immersion in Guelaguetza, a celebration with origins in pre-Hispanic times, held on the two Mondays closest to July 16 in honour of the Virgen del Carmen.
We will experience the festive atmosphere of the Guelaguetza, witnessing traditional dances and admiring textiles from different regions of Oaxaca. We will also visit the iconic tree of Tule to learn about its significance; this tree has the thickest trunk in the world.
Next, we will visit the archaeological site of Mitla, the second most important archaeological site in Oaxaca, where we will learn about Zapotec culture and explore ancient structures that tell the story of this civilization.
At lunchtime, we will enjoy local Oaxacan cuisine, tasting authentic dishes in a familiar atmosphere. After lunch, we will visit a weaving workshop to learn about the region's textiles.
We will then return to your hotel in Oaxaca, concluding an exciting day of about 9 hours in total.
