Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca and make our way to Teotitlán del Valle, 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) out of the city. Here, we'll begin our immersion in Guelaguetza, celebrated on the two Mondays closest to the 16th of July in honour of the Virgen del Carmen.
In Teotitlán, we'll experience the festive atmosphere of Guelaguetza, witnessing traditional dances and admiring textiles from various regions of Oaxaca. We'll visit a workshop to learn about the process of making Oaxacan textiles, a tradition passed down through generations.
At lunchtime, we'll enjoy local cuisine at La Casa de Doña María, savouring authentic dishes in a familiar atmosphere. After lunch, we'll visit the Centro Cultural Comunitario de Teotitlán to learn more about the area's archaeological and textile richness.
Our tour continues at the archaeological site of Mitla, the second most important archaeological site in Oaxaca, where we'll explore structures that reflect Zapotec culture.
At the end of the visit, we'll drop you back at your hotel in Oaxaca, concluding an exciting day of about 9 hours in total.
