Description

After hotel pickup, we travel southeast from Oaxaca to the frozen waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, located in San Isidro de Roaguía. You will see stunning views from heights of 100 feet (30 metres) and 40 feet (12 metres). This natural wonder, formed over 2,500 years ago by calcium carbonate saturation, is considered sacred by the Zapotec people. You will have the opportunity to bathe in natural pools above the falls and enjoy views of the Madre del Sur mountain range.

Next, we will learn how mezcal, the typical drink of the state, is produced. The region has 120 out of the 210 agave varieties worldwide, and you will see how mezcal is made and taste different types available in the area.

You will have 1 hour of free time for lunch in Palenque Mezcal. After lunch, we continue to Teotitlán del Valle, known for its colorful textiles and traditional Zapotec handicrafts.
