Tlacolula, San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya & Yagul Day Trip

At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Oaxaca and set off for the first stop, the San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya former convent.

Upon arrival, we'll stroll around this ecclesiastical complex, founded by the Dominicans in 1558. We'll admire the 17th-century polychrome altarpiece and the only bellows organ in the region. The famous writer, friar, and military man Juan de Córdova lived in these rooms.

Next, we'll see the striking Municipal Presidency of San Jeronimo Tlacochahuaya Palace with its portico and decorative arches.

We'll then head to the Yagul archaeological site, where we will observe mural paintings in tombs, the remains of a large ceremonial centre, the largest ball game in Oaxaca, and a hilltop fortress dating to 500 BC.

Our final stop will be the Tlacolula de Matamoros market, where we'll meet local Oaxacan merchants, learn about the market's traditions, and observe bartering practices. You can try local sorbet or charcoal-grilled meats.

We'll return to your hotel in Oaxaca by 2:30 pm.
