Less than an hour away from Coimbra, the Venice of Portugal awaits you. Explore beautiful Aveiro on a traditional Moliceiro boat and discover one of the country's most spectacular beaches at Costa Nova.
Aveiro & Costa Nova Tour
After meeting on Emídio Navarro Av. in Coimbra, you'll travel to Aveiro. Upon arrival, you'll board a Moliceiro boat for a 45-minute cruise on the city’s canals. Following the boat ride, you'll explore the old town of Aveiro, viewing Art Nouveau buildings and visiting the fishermen's quarter, where you can taste the traditional sweet, ovos moles.
Next, you'll head to Praia da Barra, where you'll have time to explore the beach and take photos at the Aveiro Lighthouse, the second-tallest lighthouse on the Iberian Peninsula. Then, you'll visit Costa Nova, known for its iconic striped houses, originally home to local fishermen and now a popular tourist site.
After fully enjoying your time in these coastal towns, you'll return to the meeting point in Coimbra.
Climbing Aveiro Lighthouse
If you take the tour on a Wednesday afternoon, you can choose to climb Aveiro Lighthouse. After ascending 300 steps, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the bay. This activity is not recommended for individuals with heart problems.
