Less than an hour away from Coimbra, Aveiro, known as the Venice of Portugal, awaits you. Explore beautiful Aveiro on a traditional Moliceiro boat and discover one of the country's spectacular beaches at Costa Nova.

Aveiro & Costa Nova Tour

After meeting on Emídio Navarro Av. in Coimbra, you'll travel to Aveiro. Upon arrival, you'll board a Moliceiro boat for a 45-minute cruise on the canals of Aveiro, which has earned it the nickname "the Venice of Portugal." After the cruise, you'll explore the old town of Aveiro, noting the Art Nouveau buildings and visiting the fishermen's quarter, where you can taste the traditional sweet, ovos moles.

Next, you'll visit Praia da Barra, where you can explore the white sand beach and take photos with the Aveiro Lighthouse, the second-tallest lighthouse on the Iberian Peninsula. Then, you'll head to Costa Nova, known for its iconic striped houses, which were historically home to local fishermen.

After enjoying your time in these Portuguese coastal towns, you'll be returned to the meeting point in Coimbra.

Climbing Aveiro Lighthouse

If you take this tour on a Wednesday afternoon, you will have the option to climb Aveiro Lighthouse. Climbing 300 steps will provide a panoramic view of the bay. This activity is not recommended for individuals with heart problems.
