Less than an hour away from Coimbra, the Venice of Portugal awaits you. Explore beautiful Aveiro on a traditional Moliceiro boat and discover one of the country's spectacular beaches at Costa Nova.

Aveiro & Costa Nova Tour

After meeting on Emídio Navarro Av. in Coimbra, you'll set off to Aveiro. Upon arrival, you'll board a Moliceiro boat for a 45-minute cruise on the canals that give Aveiro its nickname, "the Venice of Portugal." Following your boat ride, you'll explore the old town of Aveiro, featuring Art Nouveau buildings, the fishermen's quarter, and the chance to taste the traditional sweet, ovos moles.

Your visit continues at Praia da Barra, where you can walk on the white sand beach and photograph the Aveiro Lighthouse, the second-tallest lighthouse on the Iberian Peninsula. Next, you'll head to Costa Nova, known for its iconic striped houses, which were historically home to local fishermen but now serve as a popular tourist attraction.

After enjoying your time in these coastal towns, you'll return to the meeting point in Coimbra.

Climbing Aveiro Lighthouse

If you choose to do the Aveiro & Costa Nova Tour on a Wednesday afternoon, you can opt to climb Aveiro Lighthouse. After climbing 300 steps, you will have a panoramic view of the bay. This activity is not recommended for individuals with heart problems.
