Description
At the time of your choice, we'll meet next to the Dom Dinis Statue to discover all the secrets of the University of Coimbra.
We'll enter the central courtyard of one of the oldest universities in Europe to learn about its history. It has been declared a World Heritage Site.
Inside the complex, we'll visit the Chapel of São Miguel, noted for its decorated tiles and large baroque organ. We'll also see the Joanine Library, commissioned by King John V of Portugal, which houses a significant collection of books from the 16th to 18th centuries.
After learning about the University of Coimbra, we will admire two important temples of the city, the Old and New Cathedrals. We'll also visit the escadas do Quebra Costas, designed to connect the lower part of the city with the castle, and see the Almedina Arch, part of the citadel walls. This area is ideal for photography.
After 2.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Coimbra near the meeting point.
