Description
At the time of your choice, we'll meet next to the Dom Dinis Statue to discover the secrets of the University of Coimbra.
We'll enter the central courtyard of one of the oldest universities in Europe, which has been declared a World Heritage Site.
Inside the complex, we'll visit the Chapel of São Miguel, known for its decorated tiles and baroque organ. We will also see the Joanine Library, built by order of King John V of Portugal, housing an extensive collection of books from the 16th to 18th centuries.
After learning about the University of Coimbra, we'll admire two significant temples of the city, the Old and New Cathedrals. We will also visit the escadas do Quebra Costas, designed to connect the lower part of the city with the castle, and see the Almedina Arch, part of the citadel walls. Be prepared for plenty of photo opportunities!
After 2.5 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our guided tour of Coimbra near the meeting point.
